The Story
This contemporary mirror is named after the remarkable forms and colour observed by the artists in coastal rock beds on the wild West coast of New Zealand and the British Jurassic coast. The form found inspiration in starbursts, a decorative mechanism used in Baroque architecture and furniture making to create a sense of grandeur and movement. The material approach of forging and polishing copper-bronze along with the generous oval form makes this sculptural piece particularly unusual.
