The Story
Inspired by the medieval Green Man tradition, this cast-bronze sconce evokes the enduring poetry of nature and folklore. Delicately framed by intricate ironwork foliage, the Green Man emerges from a gentle tangle of leaves and branches, as though carried on a woodland breeze. Rich in craftsmanship and imagination, the piece celebrates the quiet abundance of the natural world and the timeless connection between people, place and landscape.
On view in the gallery window, a site-specific interpretation of the Green Man Sconce unfolds into a dreamlike sculptural installation, reimagining these same themes on a larger scale. Hand-forged foliage and branching forms, create a verdant landscape that blurs the boundary between object and environment, evoking ivy-clad ruins, woodland paths and the quiet beauty of the changing seasons. Together, the sconce and installation offer a romantic meditation on folklore, growth and renewal, reflecting the spirit of the Cox London atelier, where craftsmanship and nature intertwine.
