The Story

The Gesso Burr is a sculptural appliqué inspired by burr and briar-wood. The raw, knotted beauty of the root wood is immortalised in Jesmonite, a modern gesso. Ephemeral and eternal—the highly detailed white surface highlights and elevates nature’s imperfect perfection, collecting rich shadows in the dramatically pocked and pooled surface.
