The Role

Reporting to the Design & Estimation Manager, your role as Senior Design Estimator will be to effectively research and select the best practice processes, materials and suppliers for the purpose of manufacturing Cox group designs for both Cox London and Guild Bespoke Metalwork.

Your goal is to ensure maximum profitability for the company with the combination of affordability and outstanding quality for the customer.

A comprehensive understanding of our sculptural pieces of art, materials and processes is essential alongside being able to interpret production drawings.

You will uphold the Cox London vision by assisting with the timely allocation and execution of tasks within the team, and ensuring & nurturing best practice within the estimation function.

You will be expected to have a good rapport with all stakeholders in the business both in- house, and externally with suppliers to maintain and develop good working relationships. You will have an eye for optimum costings and be able to form efficient database administration.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Liaising with the Design & Estimation Manager and Sales teams to understand the scope of bespoke or commission projects.
  • Building up strong positive relationships with the procurement team to obtain quotations on component parts as well as sourcing new and appropriate suppliers.
  • Consult with key stakeholders across Cox and Guild Bespoke to ensure smooth running of projects, and to gather costs and processes for manufacturing.
  • Identify and quantify cost factors, such as production time and raw material, equipment, and labour expenses to prepare and submit RRP quotations for the Sales Team.
  • Support the procurement team in understanding suppliers’ capabilities through research and/or visits to gather information on materials and outsourcing.
  • Use internal ERP system to calculate estimates.
  • Ensure all relevant and essential information pertaining to quotations are passed on to production.
  • Recommend ways to make a product more profitable while improving or maintaining quality and client expectations.
  • Ensure all pricing meets with company margins post manufacturing and is sustainable for repeat orders.
  • Assisting finding information for company reports.
  • Yearly review of Cox London catalogue collection and rechecking costs throughout the year.
  • Alerting significant changes to the Creative and Commercial Director.
  • Collaborate with Guild Bespoke Metalworks to value-engineer their projects in a systematic, organised approach by providing necessary functions at lower costs and high quality standards.
  • Oversee coordination with Operations and Procurement Team to ensure accurate and timely information is prepared for BOM creation and Pricing.
  • Oversee control of BOM accuracy and be an active member of the cross-functional team to review Margin Performance and Improvement actions.
  • Drive improvements to meet KPIs set for turnaround times related to Quotations for Sales Team and Production.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Product Design and Development on New Product Implementation (NPI) projects and support with the commercialisation of new products.

Knowledge & experience (essential)

  • Excellent abilities in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Expert user of ERP systems and/or estimating software.
  • Solid experience of estimating, costing, and design within the manufacturing of interior products, ideally for the high end design sector.
  • Solid previous experience in a similar role.

Other (desirable)

  • Read off-plan and CAD technical documents to prepare estimates.
  • Adobe Creative Cloud, Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator.
  • BA(Hons) Product Design, Architecture or comparable.
