These two apprenticeships are three-year, full-time placements where you earn as you learn. In your foundation year, you’ll get a 360-degree view of Cox London and Guild Bespoke Metalworks, with hands-on training from warehouse and production to commercial sales and finance, alongside learning ancient crafts. You’ll also benefit from an accredited external Business Skills course. At the end of the first year, you’ll be assessed in specialist areas (Fabrication, Patination, Wiring, and Foundry) and choose one area to specialise in during years two and three.
Combining on-the-job, hands-on training (4 days/week) with studying (1 day/week), you’ll engage with mentors, managers, and a close-knit community daily, who will support your journey and provide the guidance and insight you need to thrive.
What You’ll Do:
· You’ll spend time in each department at Cox London and Guild Bespoke Metalworks, learning about all aspects of our businesses.
· You’ll become competent using basic machinery and power tools, learning about materials and developing hand-making and dexterity skills.
· You’ll learn the importance of accuracy, attention to detail, and quality in the finishing process.
Where You’ll Work:
Cox London’s head office and workshops are in Tottenham Hale, London. You’ll also spend time at Guild Bespoke Metalworks in Stockbridge, Hampshire (travel and/or accommodation paid for by Cox London).

Eligibility Criteria
· Age Requirement: Must be 18 years or older.
· Experience Level: Entry-level position; no prior experience with tools or metal manipulation required.
· Skills: Willingness to learn and adapt to ancient crafts techniques and processes.
· Education: GCSE or equivalent in Art, Design Technology, English and Maths preferred.
· Physical Ability: Capable of performing manual tasks and handling tools safely.

Cox London are designers and makers of unique sculptural lighting, furniture, and artworks of the highest calibre. We are commissioned by celebrated interior decorators, collectors and discerning private individuals worldwide, and work with a deep respect for materials and traditional craftsmanship, resulting in sculptural works that are as functional as they are poetic.
We are seeking an ambitious and talented CAD Designer/Design Engineer to join our high-performing Design & Estimation team. The ideal candidate will ideally have previous professional experience using Autodesk Inventor, (or SolidWorks / similar parametric software), and a good grasp of metal fabrication techniques.
As an important member of our energetic and sociable team, you’ll work closely with our fabrication and production departments, developing detailed CAD models and accurate production and supplier drawings across our full collection. This is a highly collaborative role requiring confidence in working closely with fabricators, estimators, and other stakeholders to ensure our works are not only beautifully made, but also efficiently engineered.
Key Responsibilities:
– Develop detailed 3D CAD models using Autodesk Inventor.
– Produce production and supplier-ready drawings with full consideration for fabrication processes.
– Collaborate with fabricators and production teams to balance efficient fabrication, thoughtful construction and installation methods with the artistic vision.
– Liaise with colleagues in the Design and Estimation team to fully support a range of artworks flowing through our busy department.
– Communicate confidently with internal and external stakeholders regarding fabrication processes and improvements.
– Participate in the design and implementation of new product innovations (NPI) and development projects.
– Maintain design documentation and revision control for all active projects.
Required Skills & Experience:
– Degree in Product Design, Product Design Engineering, or a related discipline.
– Previous experience in a similar role, ideally in a high-end, luxury market.
– Proficient in AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor (or similar parametric modelling software).
– Understanding of metal fabrication techniques.
– Experience in generating precise and comprehensive production and supplier packs, featuring fully dimensioned components and assembly drawings, bills of material, and strong revision control processes.
– Understanding of lighting systems and electrical components.
– Excellent communication skills: interpersonal, verbal and visual.
– Detail-oriented, with a practical and collaborative approach to problem-solving.
– A strong interest in visual art and design and a passion for craftsmanship and well-resolved outcomes.

The Job
We are recruiting a Fabrication Technician to join Cox Production Team responsible for the manufacturing of Cox pieces. Each member of this team is expected to be adaptable and inventive, learning and developing the variety of processes and finishes as per the Cox London house style.
You will be expected to fabricate company products to the required standards within specification, in full and on time meeting the costed hours for fabrication.
This technical role is for the fabrication of high end interior products. You need to be and expert in your field with high level experience and knowledge of metal working and fabrication processes, predominantly in brass but also ferrous metals suitable for furniture & lighting manufacture.
We are looking for a reliable hardworking person with initiative, high standards and a professional outlook. The successful candidate will have the ability to maintain our quality service provided to customers by upholding company standards, values and behaviours.
Duties and Responsibilities
Producing high quality furniture and lighting as per the specifications provided ensuring items are produced in full, on time and in spec
Maintain professional and technical knowledge continually improving your skills base
Maintains safe and clean work environment, upholding Company H&S policies
Application of technical processes such as welding tig, mig; silver soldering, soft soldering; metal fabrication in mainly in brass or steel; cutting and preparing materials for fabrication; fabrication of jigs; product assembly including involve the handling of glass, stone or wood; metal polishing; metal chasing.
Knowledge, Experience, Qualifications
Architectural & sculptural metalwork welding (ideally specialising in brass or bronze)
Experienced and/or expert, more than one skills area, coaching and guidance of other team members, high level skills and knowledge gained through training and experience – typically 10 years plus post training.
BA, MA or Qualified Apprenticeship in metalworking processes or similar
