In Good Company

Victoria Davar brings together an extraordinary ensemble of creatives and artisans to create The Entrance Hall at WOW!house 2025.

From intricate architectural details to curated artworks and decorative accents, meet the collective behind this immersive, historically inspired space: a masterclass in craftsmanship and an artistic wonderland, beautifully captured below by Tom Staubyn for room contributor Light House Designs.

As you walk through Adam Architecture's unforgettable facade guided by the fan light and Cox London's globe lantern protruding on either side of the threshold, you will pass through the inaugural front door at WOW!house by Atkey and Co who supplied the doors & mouldings.

Architectural fittings and hardware throughout the space are from Taylors Architectural

The Entrance Hall was raised to 5 metres for the first time to give Cox London's bespoke chandelier the scope for an extraordinary drop and gives permission to classical detailing such as the decorative mouldings and plasterwork by Stevensons of Norwich and a sweeping staircase by Excel stairs.

A mosaic of mice and oak leaves, set within an English antique flagstone floor with Rosso Levanto marble inserts from lapicida.com, welcomes you to step inside the Entrance Hall.

Lapicida is our new neighbour in Belgravia and first choice as a world class specialist in architectural surfaces, combining natural stone products, new generation manmade materials and unique bespoke services with traditional masonry skills and high-tech capabilities.

More than a celebration of one of the world’s oldest crafts, this mosaic was commissioned in collaboration with hackney-mosaic.co.uk a community arts enterprise rooted in the proven social and therapeutic power of craft.

Hackney Mosaic Project supports people affected by addiction, mental health challenges and social isolation, helping them to rebuild their lives through the ancient and collaborative art of mosaic making.

Craft offers a calming, hands-on escape from daily stress. As artist and founder Tessa Hunkin puts it, it gives people “a holiday from their heads.” Participants find structure, confidence and connection through the process, gaining new skills and a strong sense of purpose.

Made from fragments placed to form something whole and beautiful, this mosaic perfectly parallels the way Hackney Mosaic Project rebuilds lives, piece by piece.

Victoria Davar of Maison Artefact was inspired by the idea of an artist’s sanctuary set within a classical Georgian house—specifically taking cues from Borden House, whose well documented architectural details heavily influenced the design. In a moment of serendipity, while collaborating with Jamb, nestled in their package was a neoclassical fireplace which came with printed architectural details of Borden House. Victoria recalls ‘It was just too spine-tinglingly perfect to pass up’.

The space is imagined as a treasure trove of inspiration, where art and craft invite pause and contemplation. A striking work by artist Richard Zinon , on loan from Cadogan Gallery, is the largest piece in the room, while a cabinet of curiosities and surrounding vignettes feature objet like hand-carved wooden pieces by Sophie Sellu of Grain and Knot. Based in the UK, Sellu is known for her tactile, sculptural works made using traditional woodworking tools and sustainably sourced timber, each piece reflecting a deep respect for material and form. Carefully curated by Victoria, the collection of artwork and objects encourages visitors to linger, explore, and connect with the layered narrative of the space.
