Moifaa
  • The sculpted abstract legs, deconstructed and dynamic in form, are cast in bronze and traditionally patinated. Originally modelled in clay by sculptor Nicola Cox, the four bronze legs support a spectacular one off top of pure Thassos white marble with a river of rare Swedish Ringborg Green-stone running through. Each top in the edition will be unique and design-lead by the size and shape of the rocks we source.

The table is named after a famous race horse Moifaa. Travelling by ship from New Zealand in 1904, the gelding survived a terrible ship wreck off the coast of Ireland, unbelievably going on to win the Grand National. After the race Moifaa was purchased by King Edward VII and became his favourite horse, leading his funeral cortège in 1910.

Nicola Cox’s sculptural interpretation of the story, references the motion of the animal’s legs as it swam and ran to glory after what might easily have been a watery end.
